Bimini Road Tapes 1601: Violet Lens EP / The Sea

Calvin Jordan of Violet Lens and Mark Boyd of Bimini Road first met over Myspace in 2006. The two enjoyed each other's tunes, and sporadically kept in touch over the next decade.

Violet Lens is Calvin Jordan and Anna Peen, a Taiwanese singer/songwriter who Calvin met during his years abroad there. Anna and Calvin take the best of indie pop rock and mix it with the sweetness and poetry of Chinese lyricism, and the result is a bold and confident debut EP that transcends the ocean between them.

Bimini Road is Mark Boyd, and the B-side of this release is a song he wrote and recorded in 2011 while coming down from LSD. As the rising sun chased away his hallucinations, all that was left was a calm, empty melancholy of being lost (and found) in the sea of All-That-Is.
